Agripath - Thesis Project

The Lagoon of Venice is the most important survivor of a system of estuarine lagoons. It has always been an important concern of the Venetian Republic in main- taining the lagoon in a healthy state and preserving the natural resources it provides. Human impacts on the lagoon environment also increased through time, due to land use changes, pollution, fishing activities and dredging of channels.
Sant’Erasmo and Vignole islands are that have lost the economical energy which nec- essary to preserve their identity. They are places of endless possibilities awaiting an imminent transformation. On the other hand, Mazzorbo is an example of the recovery of semi-abandoned public properties that now create new practices and economies linked to agriculture and take care of common areas.
This thesis aims that finding tangible possibilities for the development, growth and presentation of new models and lifestyles linked to the rediscovery of agriculture. Top priorities of the project are respecting and improving the ecosystem of lagoon, regen- erating the abandoned areas, creating an infrastructure with services are provisioning,
cultural and regulating.
